These images are all between April 1969 and early September same year.
Fire station and control tower. The terminal building is in the dip behind and Aurigny ops in the shed to the right.
The runway (below) had various surfaces. I remember the centre strip of tarmac was laid as a Royal Engineers’ exercise.
Here’s a couple of pictures showing flexible use of staff. On left is the Aurigny Ops manager changing the wheel on an Islander, and on the right the fire personnel painting the terminal building.
The AFS did train for full effectiveness. In this picture they are off to a practice on the training patch.
